The concept of "Guiding for the Future" was born on a Montana river. Its simple, yet ambitious goal, is to ensure professional fishing outfitters and guides are an integral part of insuring the future health of aquatic ecosystems and to demonstrate the committment of outfitters, guides, fly shops, and the fly fishing industry to the conservation and wise use of Montana's aquatic systems.

To achieve this, G4F has called on the time, talent, and treasury of Montana's outfitters, guides, and fly shops, as well as the broader fly fishing industry. In addition, members of Montana's academic, scientific, and conservation communities have been engaged through all aspects of program development and implementation. Lastly, the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks (MT FWP) and other agencies have provided critical assistance througout.

Steering Committee

Representatives of the broader fisheries-related community have volunteered their time and expertise to help guide development and oversight of the G4F program.
